February 2026 - StoneCutter Member Story

"Over the next few months, we will be posting backstories recognizing deserving members of our StoneCutter community for their commitment, dedication, consistency, tenacity, perseverance and inspirational accomplishments demonstrated during their individual fitness journeys.

This month's honorees are Anna and Michael Akers.

Anna, 34 years old, and Michael, 35 years old, are both born and raised in Texas and have been married for almost 5 years (fun fact: their anniversary is 4/3/21). They have 3 sons...Elias 3 years old, and identical twin boys, Logan and Lance, who are nearing 1 year old.

Anna has a B.S. in Chemical Engineering from UT Austin and is an engineering manager with an oil and gas firm. Michael has his B.S. in History and Anthropology from West Texas A&M and currently serves as a subject matter expert for an automotive software company.

Anna and Michael are devoted parents and obviously spend a great deal of time with their boys. In addition to spending time in the gym, Anna enjoys crafts, event planning, hiking, traveling and baking. Outside of the gym, Michael loves offroading, camping, BBQ/grilling and tabletop/board games.

This active couple joined CrossFit StoneCutter back in May of 2023. Michael typically attends the 5:00 a.m. class, while Anna prefers the 4:15 p.m. class.

Anna has embraced a personal weight loss journey for 2026, with the goal to become stronger and more fit to keep up with her 3 boys. She recently improved her one-rep deadlift max to 225 pounds. As for Michael, he was able to improve last year's strict Murph time to an impressive 37:28. He has also competed in the Open quarter finals.

We have chosen to recognize Anna and Michael for many reasons. I've always admired their perseverance and consistency. I firmly believe the adage: The hardest part of any fitness journey is just showing up...everyday. This amazing couple does just that. They consistently show up and put in the work with no complaints or drama. In addition, they respect the core values of the gym and have become valued members of our community.

It's members like Anna and Michael that make our gym and community truly special, so the next time you see Anna and/or Michael, please let them know that you appreciate them.

KEEP POUNDING THE ROCK!
